Year 5 National Portrait Gallery Trip

This term, year 5 are learning about what portraits are and how they have changed over time. We were lucky enough to take a trip to the National Portrait Gallery, where students had to identify the main features of a portrait, identify how they have changed over time and illustrate which era was their favourite and why.

Students wandered around in their groups and drew different portraits and self-portraits.  ‘The Tudor era’ was the most popular because of its grand frames and the use of different colours.
